Using Drama to explore cultural diversity

Practical Drama has real potential as a way of exploring cultural diversity theory, looking at identity, stereotypes, racism, prejudice, and ways of seeing our culture. This workshop looks at techniques like verbatim and devising, and scripts, as ways to enable more confident teaching and delivery of what can be challenging content.

By the end of this session, delegates will be able to:

  • Take part in creative team activities to develop confidence and collaborative skills
  • Learn strategies to help students explore identity and diversity in an inclusive way
  • Experience ways of delivering a wider range of plays as enjoyable and relevant
  • Take away tips for understanding a new approach to understanding diversity
