A talk on breaking down barriers associated with creative and meaningful composition in the classroom.
The session will provide delegates with the opportunity to consider the following:
Suitable for Key Stages 4 & 5.
- How do we encourage and foster sound compositional approaches with learners in the classroom?
- How can we encourage the use of more traditional musicianship skills to shape the way learners write music as opposed to relying too heavily on music technology?
- What key works could be used in the classroom as inspiration for original student works and how can lessons using these works as a creative stimulus be designed
- How do we encourage learners to be creative without relying on a formulaic or ‘one size fits all’ approach to composition?
