RSL Awards at Expo London

14 February 2020

As we enter a new decade, RSL’s mission to empower both teachers and their students with dynamic, relevant qualifications for all learning environments remains as important as ever.

At Music & Drama Education Expo| London, RSL will be holding a Contemporary and Pop Music Masterclass with Alex Forryan and Dan Francis. Alex is an experienced drummer and educator who has excelled both in teaching and performing. He is an advocate of the numerous benefits of a portfolio career that encompasses both of these disciplines.

Dan is RSL’s UK Education Strategy Manager and is at the forefront of their Business Development team. He has a background in curriculum design and development, with over 20 years’ worth of experience in the education field.

RSL’s workshop is open to instrumental and classroom teachers of all levels, as well as anyone interested in providing high quality teaching and learning. Dan and Alex will lead the session and provide valuable insights into preparing students for both solo and ensemble settings, while also offering specific stylistic analysis and looking at improvisation as a route into composition. Both talented educators and musicians in their own right, it looks set to be an enthralling discussion.

RSL have sought to bookend their definitive Rockschool grades for contemporary music by launching a pre-grade Method Book series and post-grade Professional Diplomas for the creative industries.

The new frameworks provide more effective educational support for learners than ever before and remain uniquely accessible. There are no entry requirements whatsoever, as each development is founded on the ethos that everyone should be able to pursue their creative goals with confidence – regardless of their age, skill level or background.

The Rockschool Method offers a pedagogy that runs throughout these publications. This ensures that while the technical demands of grades may differ, they remain consistent in equipping learners with the necessary tools to thrive in the current creative industries at their appropriate level. UCAS points are available at grades 6-8, and learners may also enrol in RSL’s Professional Diplomas, which are unrivalled in their flexibility and accessibility while being grounded in an internationally recognised and respected qualification.

Similarly, RSL’s Vocational Qualifications combine academic rigour with contemporary relevance. Following the success of their qualifications in creative arts, they have recently launched a Creative Digital Media qualification. This offers distinct pathways in game design, social media, and interactive digital media at Levels 1 to 3. RSL has recognised the increasing demand for digitally literate students and reacted accordingly.

RSL will be at Stand F15 on March 4th & 5th. Their workshop takes place on March 4th and will last from 1:30-2:15PM in the Keynote Theatre.
